Caffeinated Explorations

I am starting this blog because of my love for coffee and my desire to explore coffee culture further. I'm not a coffee expert, but I am passionate about it and I believe I know the difference between good coffee and bad coffee.

I have a mixed background and have traveled quite a bit which might come up in future posts but my love for coffee started with canned coffees in Tokyo, developed into a dependent need for Americanos in the US and has since grown into the desire to find better coffee and coffee beans wherever I travel.

I will be visiting and reviewing cafes wherever I end up living (currently Seoul, South Korea) and documenting my coffee journey. I want this blog to be a place where people can find good cafes and perhaps begin to take a bigger interest in specialty coffee and making great coffee at home.

When I first discovered coffee and wanted to learn more I was often intimidated by the language used by many coffee experts and websites. A lot of it didn't make sense to me and they often left me confused as to why I couldn't taste how woody or chocolate like the beans were in my caramel macchiato. I've come a long way since then and although I can make some distinctions, I am in no way an expert. With all that said I hope that my reviews of cafes are less intimidating and more approachable.

My recent move to South Korea has inspired me to search for good cafes and good coffee beans. I had a hard time finding English websites discussing cafes in Seoul so I hope this can be a place where people can discover their next favorite cafe.
